Honouring the First Nation
With the partnership of Heineken and Greenpop, GGGC launched the Heineken Green Zone in March 2024. At its heart is the Khoi Heritage Site — a space where community members and tourists can learn about the Khoi and San, the first nation, through vibrant art.
International seasoned artist Aunty Sophie Peters and young artists from Eldorado Park and Kliptown were commissioned to narrate the Khoi story visually on the walls and to create rock art on the boulders.
The site tells the story of the Khoi and San from the 1300s to the 1600s — their culture, their land, and their legacy — in a way that is accessible, beautiful, and deeply rooted in this community.
